So the two duel and sir gawains brother takes the head of the green knight and the green knight lives. So very obviously the knight demands that he follow his word and be there one year and one day later. His brother did not uphold so he demands that sir gawain take his place. After the duel sir gawain spends the time traveling and eventually finds himself in the castle of Lord and Lady Bertilak. A sense of lust is able to be detected because of the situation of the lords wife trying to seduce sir gawain. She tries not only once but three times and her advances fail. Just after this he is met with hid feeling of greed and guilt. She gifts him a girdle that is sworn to keep him safe. He wants to remain safe and so he take it out of greed, but he also has guilt because it goes against his code of chivalry. But because Gawain was not truthful about all of his riches on the third blow Bertilak drew blood. But Gawain has proven himself a true knight. A sense of honor is detected because he actually proved himself. Bertilak later explains that the old woman at the castle is really Morgan le Faye, Sir Gawainââ¬â¢s aunt and also a witch. She sent the Green Knight on his his mission in the beginning and used her magic to change the Green Knightââ¬â¢s appearance. Excited to be alive but extremely guilty about his failure to tell the truth, Sir Gawain wears the girdle on his arm as a reminder of his own failure. He returns to Arthurââ¬â¢s court where all the knights join Sir Gawain, wearing girdles on their arms to show their support. This is where true chivalry is shown in the story.

Economic Growth in the UK Free Essay Example, 1000 words
In other words, it is rarely a coincidence that poverty thrives in hostile geographies and that affluence is usually seen in ambient landscapes. Apart from the literal sense of the word, ââ¬Ëenvironmentââ¬â¢ could also be taken to mean the political and socio-cultural context of a particular geographic space. Further, global capitalism has led to the practice of exploitation of cheap labour offered by Third World nations. So, while global capitalism, promoted and measured by the above mentioned determinants of economic growth, is further developing the length and breadth of its reach, it benefits certain sections of people while disadvantaging others (Thorsby, 2001). Going by criteria such as GDP, per capita income, etc, one would conclude that the United Kingdom is one of the most prosperous and advanced countries in the world. But probing a little further, we find that there are sections of the population that lives in poverty and without access to lifeââ¬â¢s necessities. People both inside and outside the country associate it with abundant opportunity for work, prosperity and overall success. We will write a custom essay sample on Economic Growth in the UK or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/pageorder now While these assessments are not completely imaginary, it does goes to suggest that beyond the ostensible wealth and opulence there is also widespread poverty (Eckersley, 2009). Seen in this backdrop, it does seem that there is a heavy price to be paid for sustaining economic growth. Hence factors such as access to healthcare, pollution levels of air and water, quality of education systems, functioning democratic systems, equitable distribution of key resources, etc also need to be included as criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of an economic system (Allen, et. Al. , 2005). In conclusion, it is quite clear that much of the criticism directed at prevailing methods of assessing economic systems and their key determinants is quite justified, especially in the context environmental degradation and inequitable distribution of wealth. The objections related to this practice can be seen as part of a broader critique of contemporary industrial societies such as the UK. These criticisms include deceptive mass advertisements, over-population, environment damage, toxic dumping, corporate greed, etc. A good starting point for reform would be the United Nations Human Development Index (HDI), which includes a broader list of parameters in assessing health, wealth and prosperity of a society. For example, in spite of being the leading global economy and military power, the United States is superseded by Scandinavian and Western European countries in the recent HDI index released by the United Nations (Eckersley, 2009).

Lord Of The Flies By William Golding - 1540 Words
ââ¬Å"The Cold War isn t thawing; it is burning with a deadly heat,â⬠(ââ¬Å"Richard M. Nixonâ⬠). Many remember the long period of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, as a time of heated tensions. Each country was suspicious of the otherââ¬â¢s contrasting form of government: the democratic government of the United States was proud of the freedoms it granted its citizens; while the Soviet Unionââ¬â¢s ruthless dictatorship greatly limited the liberties of its people. This era created lasting views of the concept of ââ¬Å"good versus evilâ⬠. British author William Golding wrote his novel, Lord of the Flies, during this time and it reflects this uneasy atmosphere. The character development, along with the carefully chosen symbolism of the novel suggests that Golding wrote Lord of the Flies as an allegory to the people and events of the Cold War, but also to present his future predictions for the Cold War; both of these exhibit the views of the concept of ââ¬Å"good versus evilâ⬠prevalent at the time. During the Cold War, United States President John F. Kennedy became a symbol for freedom, democracy, and good, rendering him the historical equivalent of Ralph in Lord of the Flies. Ralph serves as Goldingââ¬â¢s prediction for a future American president, one that John F. Kennedy fulfilled. Ralph is elected the boysââ¬â¢ chief despite Piggyââ¬â¢s intelligence and Jackââ¬â¢s obvious hunger for power. In this the company faced issues with the enhancement in the input cost due to the increase in the price of the raw material. The impact was on the company due to the rise in inflation, freight cost and raw material. At the time of inflation the company has to enhance the marketing strategies, so that the consumers can easily buy the product. With the inflation there can be fluctuation in the tax rate, which gives direct impact on marketing the products. It is seen that the enhancement in the price of the raw material and also the uncertainty in the commodity movement increase the operation cost of the company (Hollensen, 2015). The issue that was faced by the Hindustan Unilever limited enhances the input cost and operation cost because there is rise in the cost of the raw material and also in the spurious products. The slowdown is seen in the global economy and the issue that started in the financial sector increased rapidly. There are many sectors that are affected which include countrys export performance and FMCG sectors. The price of raw material contributed in enhancing the prices of crude oil (Kaur, 2013). The company has a large brand portfolio in which numbers of brands are involved. To overcome the issue the company gave focus on reducing the advertisement cost and then focus was given to increase the price of the raw material. Price inflation has given a major impact on marketing, as the environmental stewardship has been taken into consideration by the company. At the time of price inflation the company should use better marketing strategies so that the products can be easily promoted without giv ing the negative impact on the sales (Gupta, 2014). Marketing strategies helps the organization to take into consideration various tools that can be beneficial for the company. The initiatives that are concerned to minimize the operation cost can help to gain the competitive advantage. The company also needs consistent advertisements and also the promotional effects that stay for long in the mind of the customers. Hindustan Unilever limited has a good brand portfolio that involves many brands. It is very difficult to manage the large brand portfolio by any company. The company needs a good management by seeing the current scenario related with the intense competition and the prices of raw material (Dinnie, 2015). Legal Issues There are various legal issues that are faced by the company. In the recent scenario business ethics is considered as a major issue in the global business arena. In this the legal issue is discussed by taking into consideration the Nestle Company. The company faced many legal issues that are concerned with the safety standards that should be followed by the MNC Company. The legal issue is concerned with the controversy with respect to the Maggi noodles (Solomon, 2014). In this case the ingredients like Monosodium Glutamate was high and the issue has taken into consideration by Food safety and standard authority of India under the provision of food and safety standard Act. The sample of the Maggi noodles were collected by the food safety and drug administration and in the product the lead was present and on the package there was misleading information. The content of Monosodium Glutamate was found at high level above the dangerous mark. Due to the misleading information and the ingred ient that was involved in it, the product was banned by the state government (Ford and Richardson, 2013). The legal issue was stated under FSS act, 2006. The order from FSS was available on the public domain that withdraws the 9 products of Maggi instant noodles from the market. The consumption of these products resulted unsafe and hazardous for the human consumption. The authority ordered to stop the production of the product and also to withdraw the product from the market. The legal issue is related with the liability of the celebrities for brand endorsement. In this the court has asked police to register the FIR against the celebrity who are endorsing the product through advertisements (Maggi, 2016).The act imposed the liability on celebrities for endorsing the products that is unsafe and hazardous for the health of the public. The penalty was imposed for misleading the advertisement. The liability of the brand endorsers is more as there are many stakeholders who are involved in branding, starting from the agency of advertisement and the celebrity who are the part of the endorsement. So, by analyzing the case it is seen that the Maggi has recovered the image in the market due to its strong marketing and promotional strategies implemented by the company. By introducing the renewed product in the market the goodwill of the company is enhanced (Armstrong, Kotler, Harker and Brennan, 2015). Ethical issues There are various ethical dilemmas that are faced by the organization. The company that is taken into consideration is Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). The company is the most recognized brand in the fast food industry. By the enhancement in the living standard of the people it is seen that people are related with the change in health and nutritional attitudes and behaviors. People are now more concerned with their health and figures. The main concern is increased because the information which is spread everywhere states that the fast food has no nutrition, it is a junk food (Sheth and Sisodia, 2015). This is the biggest dilemma faced by the company, as it has enhanced the image of a fast food that offers greasy unhealthy food. The company should take into consideration strategies so that there can be potential enhancement in the shareholder value. The company use the oil that contain Trans fatty acids for cooking with the Sudan red in their new product named as Orleans roasted Wing. It has brought negative effect in the media report and also the KFC was boycotted. The main focus of the company is to prevent the issue related with the health and nutrition. The management of the company should take into consideration the steps that maintain the healthy and nutritional food that is the requirement of the future generation to survive (Menon, Bharadwaj, Adidam and Edison, 2015). The company stopped using the Sudan red oil for cooking and the corrective steps are taken into consideration to reduce the problem. The company is trying to reduce the negative issues that are prevailing in the market. The company gave main focus on the customers, so that the issue can be minimized by taking corrective steps. KFC made a public apology for using the oil that consists of Trans fatty acids and the food ingredients for cooking with the Sudan Red. The company committed the promise in the public, so that the goodwill can be maintained (Kotler, Keller, Brady, Goodman and Hansen, 2016). The company used the media and internet to enhance the goodwill in the market. So in this case the company requires a creative media to spread. By taking into consideration creative advertising the brand and product image of the company is enhanced in effective manner. The company also established the dietician department. To clear the doubts of the consumers it is very important to enhance the image of the company. KFC invited food inspector so that the doubts can be cleared in a proper way. The company adopted effective promotional strategies so that the image in the market can be enhanced. This is the ethical issue that is raised and the company has taken corrective measures to enhance the goodwill in the market (Lehnert, Park and Singh, 2015). To minimize this issue the company has taken into consideration accurate measures that have given enhancement in the image of the company. KFC made effective promotions and also the profits of the organization are enhanced by distributing the special vouchers in the public. The company joined many activities so that the goodwill of the organization can be improved in proper way. Ethical issues are faced by the company and it directly impact on the working pattern of the organization. To promote the product in the market it very essential for the organization to take into consideration effective marketing strategies, that will give positive outcomes. Marketing strategies help the organization to introduce new product in the market (Foxall, 2014). The marketer also considers all the aspects before introducing the product. To minimize all the issues the company should take into consideration proper marketing strategies, so that the product can be promoted in effective manner. Marketing is very essential for expansion and growth of the organization. If the company do not adopt the marketing strategies, then it will be very difficult to attain the goals and objectives of the organization. In this paper the issues that are discussed are economic issue, legal issue and ethical issue. The companies that are taken into consideration are Hindustan Unilever, Nestle and KFC. It is also seen that every organization faces issue but it depend on the organization that how to handle it in a corrective way. Carbohydrates Are Present In Sugars, Starch, Acids, And In Many Other
Carbohydrates are present in sugars, starch, acids, and in many other nutrients that consist elements of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Having a ratio of 1: 2: 1 or written as CH20. A monosaccharide meaning monomer of sugar is a simple carbohydrate. Containing backbone of five carbon atoms that are present in ribose and deoxyribose, components of RNA and DNA. Glucose a six carbon atom that is common cellulose, starch, and glycogen are classified as polysaccharide, Known as a complex carbohydrate, with straight or branched chains of many sugar monomers. These categories of carbohydrates are tested in two laboratory experiments. It will allow us (my partner and I) to detect the presence of sugar or starch. The first test, using two different solutions to expose the presence of sugar or starch by color alteration. I hypothesize that both samples of the experiment will result differently in order to pursue the next test. The second test consists of 9 food items, identifying the appearance of sugar or starch. I guess in identifying 75% out of the 9 items right. Conducting both experiments will test my hypotheses either right or wrong. The first experiment on simple and complex carbohydrates, several tools and liquids were obtained: two test tubes, spot plate, test tube holder, benedicts reagent, lugol's iodine, 10% karo syrup solution, 1% starch solution. In a test tube (holding it with a test tube holder,) my partner fills 1 cm from the bottom of 10% karo syrup solution. With the benedicts reagent I gently add four drops, then quickly placed the tube in 98 degrees of boiling water, at 3:17p.m. While waiting for 3 minutes, we noticed that before placing the tube in the boiling water, the benedict reagent in the 10% karo syrup was blue. After heating, we observed at 3:20 p.m. that the benedict solution activated and turned yellow. Which meant that sugar (simple carbohydrate) was present in the karo syrup. A different procedure was conducted to test starch. Using a spot plate, 1% of starch (about 4 drops) was placed into the well spot. Then two drops of lugols iodine was added. It generated a dark purple color with immediate contact with the iodine. The results for this experiment meant that lugols iodine would test purple, positive for complex carbohydrate and yellow for simple carbohydrates. Both samples of the experiment resulted differently agreeing with my hypotheses. With the color alteration of benedict reagent and lugols iodine, my partner and I was ready to test sugar and starch on the 9 food items. Know will test the 9 items, to state weather starch or sugar is present. I made a prediction that 75% of the items would be identified correctly. The experiment consist of: apple juice, potato juice, salt water, baking powder solution, baking soda solution, ozorka flavored water, powdered sugar solution, clearly Canadian flavored water, vinegar, benedicts reagent, lugols iodine, wax pencil, and 18 test tubes. My partner numbered the test tubes, having two sets from 1 through 9. He filled one set while I filled the other, both with food solution about, 1 cm from the bottom of the test tubes. After filling the tubes, we placed 5 drops of benedicts reagent on one set, then placing them in boiling water at about 98 degrees for five minutes (3:40 p.m.). Within the five minutes, I placed three drops of lugols iodine on the second set (3:42 p.m.). We shook the tubes, then resting them for 3 minutes. At 3:45 p.m., my partner took out the benedict set, and we started to record our result as w e also recorded the lugols iodine. We both had amazing outputs; I resulted on having 6 items accurately correct out of the 9. Baking soda solution and vinegar failed both the benedict and lugols iodine fluids, appearing negative results for sugar and starch. I predicted that Salt water would show starch therefore it appeared negative. Vinegar has an acidic elements, that are naturally fermented by which bacterium (prokaryotic) go through, an anaerobic cycle. Baking soda is a sodium bicarbonate, it is naturally occurring in the form of an ore called torna. It releases more OH , which it has a pH above 7. Salt is a sodium chloride, also

Research Paper on Jesus Christ
Research Paper on Jesus Christ When studying the synoptic Gospels it becomes quite apparent that God is eager to establish a personal, loving relationship with all people through His Son, Jesus Christ. And Jesus is patiently waiting for all the people of the earth to accept His invitation: ââ¬Å"I have been standing at the door and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and have fellowship with him, and he with me.â⬠(Rev. 3:20) This passage illustrates Jesus as a door through which we all must enter. And also that Jesus is willing to accept all people who turn to Him. Man or woman, rich or poor, empowered or enslaved, Jesus was sent here by God so that anyone who hears His message and believes in Him will be saved. One of the key points of Jesusââ¬â¢ ministry was how the Kingdom of God is accessible to all people. This underlying theme is especially apparent in parables like ââ¬Å"The Good Samaritanâ⬠, ââ¬Å"A Lost Sheepâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"A Lost Sonâ⬠. These parables are used to explain how Samaritans, the lost, and sinners all can find their way back to God, and how they will be greeted and embraced by a loving Jesus. These stories illustrate one of Jesusââ¬â¢ main teachings, that all people who have faith in Him, will be accepted and embraced by God in heaven. Jesus accepted all different types of people to be a part of His table fellowship. Many of His early followers were Gentiles, women, sinners, and tax collectors. The Pharisees often tried to call Jesus on this fact, asking him why he would surround himself with such people if he were truly the Son of God. Jesus replied to them, well people do not need medicine, but those who are sick do. Jesus Christ is willing to accept all people regardless of their sins. That is why He visited the home of the hated tax collector and promises eternal life to the dying criminal. Jesus is forgiving, and loving, and he came to save all the people of the world. Even before Jesusââ¬â¢ birth, John the Baptist was announcing Jesusââ¬â¢ coming as, ââ¬Å"Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the worldâ⬠(John 1:29). Again Jesusââ¬â¢ universality is proved, it is the sin of the world that John the Baptist mentions, not the sin of the Jews. Through the constant usage of ââ¬Å"the worldâ⬠in these bible scriptures it becomes even more evident that Jesus Christ was sent to ââ¬Å"the worldâ⬠; to be a Savior and a Redeemer for both the Jews and the Gentiles. Jesus Christ broadened Godââ¬â¢s acceptance of people. These new Christians, did not need to become Jewish, or obey ââ¬Å"the lawâ⬠in order to be accepted as a Christian, rather all they had to do was accept that Jesus was Christ and Lord, and that he died to redeem the world of its sins. This is the key to finding salvation in Christianity. Jesusââ¬â¢ sermon, which appears in two Gospels make it clear that all people are blessed. It is notable the both the ââ¬Å"poorâ⬠and ââ¬Å"the poor in spiritâ⬠are mentioned. In Lukeââ¬â¢s Gospel it meant the materialistic definition of the term, but in other Gospel refers to the ââ¬Å"poor in spiritâ⬠meaning the Jews. The monotheistic people that still only believe in God, and not Jesus, and this makes them poor ideologically. But yet, this sermon goes on to bless all the different types of people, especially those who have had a hard life. Jesus is saying to have faith in God as He knows your needs and your troubles, and all will be taken care of in the Kingdom of God. This theme that was recurrent throughout Jesusââ¬â¢ life and ministry becomes even more apparent after His crucifixion and resurrection. It is the resurrected Jesus who sends out the disciples with the Word for all the nations to hear. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke all close with Jesus sending His disciples on a mission. Lukeââ¬â¢s gospel concludes that ââ¬Å"All people of every nation must be told in My nameâ⬠. Markââ¬â¢s Gospel closes with ââ¬Å"Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world. Anyone who believeth in me and is baptized will be savedâ⬠. Matthew quotes the risen Jesus as saying, ââ¬Å"I have been given all authority in Heaven and on Earth! Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciplesâ⬠. When considering the repetition and placement of these verses within each Gospels , the main theme of both Jesusââ¬â¢ message becomes strikingly evident. Even the resurrected Jesus was concerned with saving the world. And that i s why He sent out the disciples to all the nations. After the crucifixion and resurrection, the Holy Spirit was sent to the Apostles. This Spirit was always present to remind the disciples that Jesus came to save both the Jews and the Gentiles, and that God wants people from every nation and race to become His children. The work of the Holy Spirit is especially apparent in Acts, when Phillip took Jesusââ¬â¢ message to Samaria for the first time, and also in the conversion of Cornelius, a captain from the Roman army. Who has an encounter with the ââ¬Å"Holy Spiritâ⬠he was blinded for three days, upon regaining his sight he knew the truth. Jesus Christââ¬â¢s message has now spanned the globe. All countries, all nationalities have now heard the Word of God. Christianity has become one of the most dominant religions in the world, and the time for the Kingdom of God draws near. After studying the Gospels it becomes apparent that God wants all His children to come home, and so He made obtaining this redemption easily accessible for all people. To obtain Godââ¬â¢s love one must first realize that Jesus Christ is Godââ¬â¢s only provision for manââ¬â¢s sin. It is only through Jesus, that one can come to know God personally, and experience Godââ¬â¢s love. Every person must individually receive Jesus Christ through faith as Savior and Lord: it is only then that one comes to know God personally and experience His love; a love that through Jesus Christ was extended to all the people of the world. Despite Jesusââ¬â¢ love being so easily obtainable, many people do not accept Him as the ââ¬Å"Son of Godâ⬠. Most of these people believe Jesus to be a great moral teacher, but do not accept the divinity of his claim. They do not believe, because they have no faith. This is increasing evident in our modernized technological society. Faith has been traded for science. This is even noticeable in our current dating system. For two thousand years, the humankind used B.C. and A.D. as a timeline for the world. It was only recently that it was changed to the less secular C.E. (common era) and BCE (before common era). These latter terms could almost be considered blasphemous from a Christian perspective. This dating system was not made simply to show the year of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, but to illustrate that Jesus Christ was the most important man that ever lived, and that his very presence renewed the world. The life and death of Jesus was the basis for our calendar system for over two millenniums, and now Jesus life and message has been forgotten by so many. With the Christmas Season swiftly approaching, peopleââ¬â¢s lack of faith becomes ever more apparent. Most of the western world still celebrates this holiday, and it is still marked on calendars by its traditional name ââ¬Å"Christmasâ⬠, but the true meaning of this holiday has been long forgotten over the years. It is a holiday that had originally celebrated the birth of ââ¬Å"Jesus of Nazarethâ⬠, ââ¬Å"The Christâ⬠. There were festive songs that rejoiced in His name, ââ¬Å"Hark, the Herald angels sings, Glory to the new born Kingâ⬠. But most of these traditions have come to pass. In Canada, due to our embracement of multiculturalism we have destroyed our national religion, Jesusââ¬â¢ religion. Some people are willing to accept some aspects of Christmas, just not the divinity of the holiday. And thanks to political correctness no one wants to offend these people, for example, the Canadian Postal Service is no longer calling December 25th ââ¬Å"Christma sâ⬠, but rather now have it advertised as ââ¬Å"The Day of Givingâ⬠. Day of Giving! And this is from a crown corporation. This is evident even more locally with the McKenzie Art Galleryââ¬â¢s Festival, in which they open refuted not to mention the word Christmas, but rather celebrated the Holiday Season. The western world has made a full circle with the acceptance and rejection of Jesus Christ. More people are denying him than ever before. Jesus Christ is for all. This question has been repeatedly answered through Jesusââ¬â¢ life, ministry and message. The question that should really be asked is ââ¬Å"Is there anyone for Jesus?â⬠And how do these people who have turned their back on Jesus think they will be recognized in Heaven? If youââ¬â¢ve never called on Jesus name, then why should He know yours. The people of the world must realize that Jesus is ââ¬Å"the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through meââ¬â¢. All that people must do is accept Jesus into their lives, it makes so much sense in our present day world, a world filled with contempt, with greed, and with faithlessness, to turn away from technology and look back unto faith for the answers of this life. As it is only through this faith that people will realize that the story of Jesus of Nazareth is true, and that he died for all of us. He died so that all people: the young and the old, the sick and the healthy, the ric h and the poor would all have a place in the Kingdom of God.

Eradicating malaria in subafrican countries Essay
Eradicating malaria in subafrican countries - Essay Example The boy William (2009) truly understood how the process of harnessing windmill energy can bring better life for his family and to his community. His constant efforts to build a small but effective device could bring the sustenance and better life. In the same way, an effective malaria eradication program can increase productive man hours and increase the output in industrial and agricultural produce. It is needed to understand the root cause of malaria in Africa first and then devise a full-fledged program, which overtime can eliminate this widespread disease. The severity of malaria in Subafrican region is due to climate and ecology. It is correct to state that malaria affected regions are mostly poor and bound by low economic growth. There are indeed some of the success stories of malaria eradication in the world in the countries such as Italy, Greece, and Spain between 1930 and 1950. Greece had a major suffering in the beginning of 1900s with the spread of malaria. WHO run Malaria eradication campaign had a major effect in Greece in 1946. Infected cases reduced to only 5000 in 1951 from 1-2 million cases per year found in the early 1930s. Unfortunately, it is hard to find much success stories in developing countries sparing the islands of Taiwan and Jamaica. Malaria was eradicated from Jamaica and Taiwan in the year 1958 and 1961 respectively and since then they were in higher growth trajectories. (Gallup & Sachs, 1998) Williamââ¬â¢s story inspires us about the innovativeness of a small boy that can transform his small town amid adversity. Malawi is a town falling under sub-African region where diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria are quite wide spread. It will be appropriate to see what the measures are taken to eliminate the disease in Malawi. Malawi's the entire population of 1.39 million is at risk of contracting the disease. Every year, almost 4 million cases are registered in health care facilities annually. Malaria is said to have almost accou nted for 40% of inpatient visits. Almost 18% deaths in hospital are accounted to this dreaded disease. Malawi is the first country who relinquished the use of chloroquine in favor of more effective drug. There are many challenges to the issue such as lack of human resources, parasite resistance to the first-line treatment, poverty and a lack of proper monitoring system. To mitigate the weak monitoring system, the World Bank spearheaded a project called Health Sector Support Project through additional funding. The project was also supported by other agencies such as U.S President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) ââ¬âproposing approximately $186 million in malaria control. Malawi has stopped proposing chloroquine due to resistance developed by malarial parasites and instead implemented a change known as artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTS). World Bank's investment in evaluation and monitoring system will help assess the effect of change in treatment system. Through this system of monitoring, it will be possible to have improved result-based decision making. The additional grant with further strengthen the efforts to eradicate the malaria from Malawi. Finally, it will have multiple goals to fulfill reducing child mortality, reducing poverty and protecting the poorest from the
